1. Mushroom - what is worth knowing about it?

The common algae, also known as the turner, starfish, gojnik or the lion's paw, grows on meadows (including mountain ones), wet forests, it also occurs on embankments and along roads. It has a balsamic scent and a tart, sweet taste. Podrotnik blooms from May to September. The flowers are yellow-green, small, gathered in bunches.


The medicinal raw material is flowering herb with earthy leaves. They are harvested during the flowering period. Dry them in natural conditions, in an airy, shaded place, at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees.

Mugwort is rich in ellag tannins, flavonoids (quercetin), saponins, bitterness (lactones), and phytosterols. In addition, it contains ellagic acid, lutein, digestible silica, tannic acid, gallic acid, ubiquinone, quinic acid, coumaric acid, as well as vitamin C, carbohydrates and minerals.

2. Regulates menstruation, improves metabolism, strengthens the heart

The tannins contained in the algae have an astringent and anti-inflammatory effect, inhibit minor bleeding, and have a positive effect on the skin and mucous membranes.

Moreover, the infusions of this plant stimulate the production of gastric juices, thanks to which they improve the absorption of food, reduce fermentation in the intestines, and stimulate the appetite. They are also diuretic, diastolic and accelerate the metabolism. Therefore, they are recommended for gastritis, flatulence, hyperacidity and diarrhea.

It helps to regulate the menstrual cycle, reduces heavy bleeding, and relieves menstrual pain and discomfort associated with menopause.

It is also recommended for pregnant women, especially if you are prone to miscarriages. It strengthens the uterine ligaments. Before the planned pregnancy, you should drink the juice or infusion of the alchemist. Women who are already expecting a baby should consume the herb from the third month and four weeks before giving birth to improve its course.

The herb improves muscle function, thus eliminating the causes of urinary incontinence. They are also used in the case of various types of muscle damage and hernias. It also strengthens the heart. Mugwort can be used for purulent wounds and ulcers. Additionally, it helps with anemia.

Used externally, it is used for compresses, eye washing in conjunctivitis (in mixtures with chamomile and firefly), for irrigation and rinses. In the form of suckers, it is helpful in the treatment of vaginal discharge, vaginal inflammation and itching of the vulva and haemorrhoids.

A strong infusion of algae accelerates the healing of the gums after a tooth has been extracted, so it is a good idea to rinse the mouth with it. It also has a soothing effect in laryngitis.

Washing with infusion of scars has a positive effect on their regeneration. It also accelerates the healing of mucosal damage and erosions. Applied simultaneously externally and internally, it improves skin elasticity and helps in removing discoloration.

3. How to prepare home brew?

To prepare a healing infusion of algae, pour a heaped tablespoon of herbs with a glass of hot water and brew, covered, for 10-15 minutes. After this time, strain. In case of digestive disorders, you should drink half a glass two to three times a day. 2-3 glasses a day are recommended during pregnancy.
