Boys from the square of arms - a test of reading knowledge

"Boys from the Square of Arms" is a world-famous Hungarian novel. It belongs to the classics of children's and teenagers' literature. Translated into at least 42 languages; on its basis, several screen adaptations and stage adaptations were created. For several years it has been included in the school reading canon. 1. What are the "Boys from the Arms Square" about?

The author of the novel is "Boys from the square of arms" (literally translated "Chłopcy z ulica Pawła") by the Hungarian writer Ferenc Molnár. Initially, in 1906 it appeared in sections in the newspaper "Tanulók Lapja" (Hungarian. Student's Gazette "), and in 1907 it was published in its entirety as a book.

The action takes place at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries in Budapest. The leitmotif are fights for the square between two groups of boys. One of them, defending the square, is the Arms Square Boys, and their opponents are the Red Shirts - boys who want to occupy the area to play a jerk.

The leader of the Boys from Plac Broni is Janosz Boka. In this group, the least serious member is Ernest Nemeczek, who is the main character of the novel. The Red Shirts Group is led by Feri Acz, and its members include brothers Pastorowie, Sebenicz and Wendauer.

Initially, it is just a cold, but due to the lack of treatment, the disease progresses into pneumonia and eventually the boy dies, but in the belief that he is for his little homeland.
