Giving grades is a sign that summer is fast approaching, and with it the end of the school year and the long-awaited vacation. The passing school year is marked by the Covid-19 pandemic and distance learning, however, by the government's decision at the end of May, all students will return to full-time education. Many of them are afraid of going back to school and being overwhelmed with tests. Until when is the 2021 grading date? Will the students manage to make any corrections?

1. When do students return to school?

By the decision of the government, after almost a whole year of distance learning, students return to full-time education. Due to the continuing pandemic, this return has been divided into several stages:

  • On May 4, 2021, grades 1-3 have returned to primary schools throughout Poland;
  • On May 17, 2021, grades 4-8 primary and 1-4 secondary schools will start hybrid teaching;
  • On May 31, 2021, all students are expected to return to full-time education.

For some students, returning to full-time education is stressful. Many of them fear that they will hit the worst crowd of tests and quizzes because teachers will want to see what their students have learned from distance learning.

However, the Ministry of Education and Science assures that this will not happen. The ministry issued a communiqué in which it urged teachers not to focus on assessing children in these last weeks, although they should be sensible - the last weeks should not be devoted only to play.

2. Until when do teachers give grades?

In 2021, the end of the school year will take place on June 25. Until when is grading available? Teachers have time to issue them and inform:

  • by May 24, 2021 on projected failing grades;
  • by June 2, 2021, with projected annual assessments;
  • by June 15, 2021 to issue annual assessments.

Classification councils are planned around June 17, 2021.

3. What is included in the annual evaluation?

The annual assessment covers the following assessments:

  • the activities, tests and small tests taking place in the second semester;
  • on the commitment and results from the first semester.

It is worth remembering that a student whose total grade point average is at least 4.75 receives a certificate with a distinction - a red stripe. Additionally, if his average is a minimum of 5.0, he may receive an academic performance award sponsored by the Parents' Council.

Students' behavior is also assessed. A student may receive a grade for behavior:

  • exemplary;
  • very good;
  • Okay;
  • correct;
  • inadequate
  • reprimand.
