Three-dimensional ultrasound (VIDEO)

Ultrasound examinations during pregnancy

Ultrasound examination is a method that allows to determine the size of the fetus, its age, general health and early detection of its malformations. It is visible from the 4-5th week of pregnancy, which is extremely helpful in establishing an ecotopic pregnancy. The examination is performed vaginally up to the 12th week, after which the ultrasound is carried out through the abdominal wall.

Ultrasound examination helps to pre-establish the due date. You can make an accurate diagnosis for a specific date only during the 14th week of pregnancy. When it comes to identifying the baby's sex using ultrasound, it can be assessed around the 20th week of pregnancy.

Ultrasound is used much more often when a pregnant woman suffers from hypertension or diabetes.

Recently, three-dimensional ultrasound is becoming popular, as it allows you to see the baby almost "live". The only question is whether this method makes it possible to assess the condition of the fetus. The answers to this topic are provided by prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Czajkowski- Head of the 2nd Department and Clinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical University of Warsaw.
